My Starbucks Drink

So I was standing in line at Starbucks this morning deciding if I should order my usual or change it up a bit. I decided to change it up...now I have my new drink, a grande mocha frappacino, two pumps, double blended, light with whip. It was while I was waiting for my concoction to be made that I started to think of how great, albeit funny that I had so many choices about how one morning drink can be made. I guess if I didn't have a choice I probably wouldn't be ordering a drink at Starbucks because I don't really like coffee unless it is masked with all kinds of flavors, hence the mocha, frappacino cream base and whipped cream.

I am not alone in my quest for a perfect drink. The Daddy has his usual too...venti 1/2 caf with 3 raw sugars and an inch of 1/2 and 1/2.

Of course there is my favorite drink at Sonic too. Large 1/2 and 1/2 tea with easy peach and easy ice!

Sometimes I think our world has too many choices. I am not even sure we are better off because of it!

October Update...

My Boys...

Lucas likes to cuddle with his daddy and watch sports. In fact, it is his way of stalling his bedtime (how quickly they learn)! He knows that daddy likes to cuddle with him so he begs to "Watch Teeee" & "Watch Buutball" on the nights daddy is home (and now Poppa too since he is living with us right now!)

A boy and his puppy...

Lucas absolutely adores Chef and is hugging on him a lot. Good thing Chef is a good and tolerant puppy!

Our froggy friend...

One morning we spotted a little frog sitting on the filter hose of our pool. The boys had to investigate.

Lucas and Lincoln at the Dallas Arboretum. In September, Debbie and I took the boys to the Dallas Arboretum. We had a nice time. If you have not been there I highly recommend it. It was really pretty and very nice to walk through. They have several areas for the kids to play at.

Plano Balloon Festival...

Emily's new room!

For Emily's birthday daddy and I agreed to redecorate Emily's room. When we moved from California we brought her same old room that mommy had decorated when she was four, she had a pink princess room and castle bed! Her original idea was a Hawaiian themed room but she could not find a comforter she liked. She is not a "pink" person anymore and most of the girl Hawaiian comforters we found had a lot of pink in them. We found this comforter at Target and it is so her!!! Mommy and Ga got busy one weekend and painted dots, made a headboard and rearranged the room. It turned out really cute and she loves it!

Texas State Fair...

On Lucas' birthday we all went to the state fair. We had a fun time looking around and the favorite thing to do was "work" on the mini farm. The kids collected eggs, fruit, fed the animals, planted a garden, and milked a cow. When they were done they turned their goods in for money and purchased a snack at the general store. Very fun!

Mommy made some cupcakes and our friends came over. We went swimming, ate dinner, opened presents and had cupcakes & ice cream. Luke had a blast and was exhausted at the end of the evening!

For his birthday he got lots of great gifts! He took his new cars lunchbox to church filled with a toy, his sippy cup and his diapers. He is getting so big (and being so silly)!

Love this!!!

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time--no emailing.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care.

He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.

Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name.

Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mother!

I post the above just for fun! I kid the Daddy all the time that he couldn't handle my job! Of course I know I couldn't handle his job and I am grateful everyday for what he does for our family.

Ella's Bee Sting - Ouch!

Last Sunday night (when we were in San Antonio) Ella got stung by a bee. We are not exactly sure why the bee stung her - we only know that she has been stung 5 (yes, 5!) times in her short life! She is a very curious little kitty and at least 3 of the times she was playing with and trying to catch the bees. I am thinking that she will be very cautious from now on - her hand swelled up soooo bad we took her to the doctor and she had to get 2 steroid shots to reduce the swelling. Of course, time will make her forget the pain so she will probably try to catch them again!

Her hand was so swollen her fingers were larger around than mine! Her creases in her knuckles were popped out and they looked like blisters. Even her wrist was swollen. It has now started to turn black and blue. Once this is healed I will be taking her to the doctors for blood work to detect a serious bee allergy - they say that it gets worse with each sting. Emily had a bee sting in kindergarten on her foot and her face and neck swelled up. They both may be candidates for the epi-pen for their bee stings.

Labor Day Weekend!

We have started a little tradition in our household. Last year over labor day weekend we drove down to San Antonio to visit my cousin and we went to Schlitterbahn Waterpark. It is supposedly rated the best waterpark in the world. It is really really big with 3 different parks in one. It has several "Lazy River" type rides that mommy really likes!

While we were in San Antonio we went to Hemisfair park, The Riverwalk & The Alamo.
